Why Wet Insulation Changes a Roof Coating Plan
A fresh coated roof can look like a clean start. If the insulation below it is saturated, the underlying problem has stayed in place. Raymore Roof Pros treats restoration as a roof-assembly decision before a finish decision.

The surface is attached to what stays
A coating system needs a compatible substrate and dependable adhesion. Loose material or a deteriorated surface weakens the foundation for the new application. Cleaning, preparation and repairs are part of that system, not optional extras before the coating itself.
Moisture changes the question further. Insulation that is wet below the covering needs to be identified and addressed. Sealing it beneath a new finish does not turn it back into dry, sound material.
The leak location can understate the wet area
Water can travel within a low-slope assembly. The visible defect and ceiling leak can be smaller than the affected insulation area. An assessment for restoration may need moisture investigation and selective opening to establish what can remain.
That work is what gives a coating recommendation a defensible foundation. The alternative is choosing a surface before knowing whether it has a roof worth preserving beneath it.
Coating does not create drainage
A blocked drain and a sagging deck need different corrections. A coating cannot build structural slope or repair unstable support. Water movement, drains and edge details still need to be resolved.
Raymore’s commercial replacement provisions include qualifying protective-coating exceptions. That does not establish suitability for an individual building; the system and the remaining requirements still apply.
Put restoration beside repair and replacement
The commercial roofing guide compares the three approaches. If a building has recurring leaks or a coating proposal on the table, discuss the roof condition with Raymore Roof Pros. Call (816) 281-9183 to start with the property and the restoration question.
